This morning's Guru Gita Chant
June 27, 2013
This morning's Guru Gita chant was especially lovely. Usually, on the Guru's Day, Thursday, I partake in the Shishya Guru Gita Call. I get to my meditation room, dial in and there's Swamiji and my yoga buddies at Kashi and on the other end of the phone :) This is a wonderful way to connect when I don't make the almost 2 hour pilgrimage. Actually, I have been intending to make it to Kashi for this program since last summer! Today was my very first time!!!
I was simply awake and ready to go at 4.30 this morning; enough time to gather some Cora Bells for Swamiji and be on my way!
So, sometimes at home, I do sit for the Guru Gita and I always meditate afterward. However, I can tend to wander about, go to the bathroom, get a drink, sit and not chant..you get the idea.
This morning, I sat and chanted. It was so sweet to be at Kashi, at my Guru's feet and with my yoga buddies (and even meet a new one!). We chanted the first 75 verses in English; we've been doing this on Guru's Day regularly since India 2013 when Swamiji began relating her translations to us. I even got to be part of the seva team helping to spread these verses throughout our group at the Mela!
Check out this YouTube Link of us in India chanting some of these English Guru Gita verses.
What a great start to the day this was and what a deep inner immersion my meditation was! This is unusual for my morning meditation. So still and so unconscious in Consciousness! Then, the gong...glad there are three! i am carrying this morning experience with me through my day and will go even deeper with my practices yet to come.
Here we are in India, Chanting the Guru Gita..apparently I was having trouble staying conscious, here, too!!!
